working projects

  • Future Kaikōura has undertaken projects with Te Korowai o Te Tai o Marokura – Kaikōura Marine Guardians, particularly in relation to fishing, commercial fisheries and various activities in the marine economy. Through this partnership, economic analysis has been undertaken for Ministry of Primary Industry to assist in policy decision. Future aikōura will be involved in the consultation process for the re-opening of the Paua and Shellfish fisheries.
  • Future Kaikōura works with Te Ha o Matauranga in respect to vocational training, education and employment.

  • Strong relationships have been built with Eat NZ on a regional and national level. Currently work with the Enterprise North Canterbury Food and Beverage Development Manager increasing sales for local providers, along with Feast Marlborough in relation to food events and regionality. Locally we are working with Te Runanga o Kaikōura, artisan producers, fishers, farmers and community organisations in the development of the Kaikōura food network and food strategies.

  • Close work is being undertaken with the Resilience to Nature’s Challenges research along with post-quake farming initiatives in Hurunui and Marlborough. These projects are particularly in relation to agri-tourism development and horticulture diversification. We have also worked with the Sustainable Seas researcher regarding the Blue economy.

  • Future Kaikōura continues to work closely with Lincoln University's sustainable tourism research, developing research projects to enhance Kaikōura’s understanding of our community, industry and opportunities.

  • Future Kaikōura has been working with Enterprise North Canterbury and the Regional Business Partners network as the provider for these services.
